Antonio Brown was mired in a few of odd incidents last week. To begin with, it had been the frostbitten ft. Now, he’s at a standoff with the NFL finished using his previous helmet.
The mercurial recipient has threatened to retire over it, and now BetOnline has posted odds he’ll follow through. Is there any value gambling this?

It is tough to believe that Antonio Brown’s bizarre cryogenic chamber, frostbitten foot has been only the second-most bizarre story with the star receiver last week. The bombshell that dropped was that he’s willing to retire over using his previous helmet.
The NFL regularly updates their helmets for safety reasons. You may remember they have massive issues with concussions that are very public and consequently, families are keeping their kids away from entering the sport. It’s a huge problem. But, Brown has grown comfortable with his old helmet.
Though he has not formally announced his standoff with the league, reporters have suggested he won’t perform unless the NFL enables him to use his old helmet. That’s quite unlikely to happen — particularly as the NFL Players Union has consented to utilize this helmet (which suggests Brown is battling his own union).
Naturally, we have been expecting to hear from head coach Jon Gruden, who we thought would not be delighted with the situation. The overall consensus was that he would blow a gasket and this might cause a rift between Brown and the group. It is very likely that it is behind the scenes however openly, Gruden has encouraged him.
What’s also worth noting is that Gruden kind of indicated that he anticipates Brown back at a certain stage. Up until that point, we had not heard anything positive about the problem but it feels like he thinks it will be settled. It could just be wishful thinking, however, as Gruden’s bum is on the line following trading for Brown.
The heart of the problem is the NFL doesn’t permit players to utilize helmet’s over 10 years old and Brown’s is 12. While Brown was hoping to convince the league to allow him to use it (he was able to use it )they openly responded that they are not going to let him to perform it.
Going forward (along with the league may go after him retroactively), Brown will be in breach of his contract till he plays with a league-approved helmet. Otherwise, he won’t get compensated. That means he is going to begin losing money for this season and — when the league feels vindictive enough — could go after him last year’s cover too. That is speculation at this point, however.
Another report on Sunday suggested that Brown is thinking about holding the league accountable if he gets injured in the helmet. Just the simple fact he’s interesting that shows he’s considering using the new helmet.
It’s tough to view Brown retiring prior to Week 1. Yes, he’s definitely a diva. Yes, he is being over-the-top within this situation. However, the team has come out and support . It’s unlikely he attempts to screw over them.
Can he hold out and miss Week 1 while trying to find a solution? That looks more likely than a permanent retirement. But what I expect is to get him and the team to come to some sort of judgment. He wishes to be playing and so does the league along with the Raiders, therefore there is motivation to have this done. Bet on’No more’.
